Do you check the strategy behind a trader before copying them?
I usually prefer copy trading, but I don’t blindly follow every trade. I like to check the trader’s strategy, risk management, and past performance before deciding who to follow. Do others combine copy trading with their own strategy and analysis?

I completely agree. Before copying a trader, it’s better to look at their strategy, risk management, consistency, and past performance rather than simply focusing on their returns. Understanding how they trade can help you decide whether their approach actually fits your own goals and risk tolerance.
To succeed in the financial market, you need someone who truly knows the market. I know this first hand, having done a lot copy trading myself, but where it really hit home was with Demitry Jenkins. His trading signals have helped me see real growth in my portfolio. He is on Discord and TeIegram @ Thedemitry.
Yes, and for me the checking matters more than the strategy description itself. What a trader says they do and what the account shows are not always the same. Before I copy anyone, I look at:
1. Equity vs. balance drawdown. If equity drops far deeper than balance, losing positions are being held open while winners get closed. That's often how grid or martingale systems look.
2. Lot sizes in the history. Do they step up after losses? Several positions in the same direction at worse prices?
3. Deposits and withdrawals. When was money added? Top-ups after a bad stretch can make growth look better than it was.
4. Track record length in trades, not just months, and whether it includes at least one bad market phase.
5. Whether the trades actually match the strategy they describe, e.g. "trend following" but most trades are counter-trend.
6. Verification: is the track record verified, and are trading privileges verified? Useful, but it only shows the numbers are real, not that they will continue.
And one general rule: be very careful with anyone recommending a signal provider via Telegram or Discord, especially from a brand-new account. That's one of the most common setups for scams.
(Just how I check it, not advice.)
