Too Many Tools Can Kill Your Trading
Even experienced traders fall into the trap of excessive indicators. Many think more tools = more insight, but most indicators measure the same thing: momentum, price action, or trend. When charts are crowded and multiple assets are traded simultaneously, strategies begin to fail. The real skill is knowing what to keep, what to discard, and how to synthesize a simple, repeatable process. In our system, which we also automate for interested persons, we focus on a disciplined, streamlined approach, three currency pairs, minimal clutter, and tools that actually improve decision-making.
How many tools would you recommend?
Indicator overload is one of those traps that feels sophisticated but usually isn’t. A chart full of signals can give the illusion of control, while in reality it often creates conflicting information and hesitation. At the end of the day, price is still the core data. Most indicators are just different mathematical lenses looking at the same underlying movement—trend, volatility, or momentum.
Personally, I’ve moved more in that direction over the last few months. I mainly use the SureshotFX Raven as my primary indicator. It’s been part of my setup for a couple of months now, and it has worked well for my style so far. I still keep the chart relatively clean and use it more as a decision-support tool rather than something that replaces analysis.
Your point about focusing on a few pairs is also underrated. Limiting the number of markets you watch often improves pattern recognition and discipline. Too many charts can easily turn trading into noise management instead of strategy execution.
In trading, clarity tends to outperform complexity. A simple system that you actually follow will usually beat a brilliant system that collapses under its own weight.
