If you lose 10% on a single trade, you need an 11.1% gain just to get back to break even. And as the loss gets bigger, the profit needed to recover doesn’t increase linearly it rises exponentially

10% loss → 11.1% profit needed20% loss → 25% profit needed30% loss → 42.9% profit needed50% loss → 100% profit needed (you need to double what’s left)80% loss → 400% profit needed

Think about that for a second. If you lose half of your capital, you need to double the remaining half just to get back where you started. This is where most traders get it wrong. Everyone is obsessed with strategy, entries, and win rate, but they forget one simple thing: A strategy can have a 70% win rate, but if the losing trades are oversized, just 3–4 consecutive losses can seriously damage or even destroy the account. What actually matters is survival. Risking around 1–2% of your capital per trade isn’t just some “safe trading” tip. It’s mathematical survival. Small losses are recoverable. Big losses change the entire game. You can be excellent at predicting the market, but if your position sizing is wrong, that skill means very little.
