Every trader has that one rule they learned the hard way.

For me, it’s simple: protect the account before chasing the profit.

Whether you trade Forex, Gold, Indices, or Crypto, even the best setup can fail. Risk management, patience, and knowing when NOT to trade can make a huge difference.

Curious to hear from other traders:

What’s the one trading rule you never break? 👇

First and foremost, a trader must think about risks and how to manage them. Only then should they consider profits and the scalability of their trading strategy. We’ve been in this business for over 15 years and remember the early days of forex. We have also seen many traders and investors who chased profits, only to lose everything in the end. But we know just a handful of traders who prioritised risk management and have remained in the game to this day. So the safety of any trading system - whether automated or manual - begins with risk assessment and control.

Keep risk small, relative to the account. My trading style provides multiple entries in a day, so stacking the small wins is the name of the game. Drawdown recovery is relatively quick. The drawback is that account growth can feel slow.

Absolutely agree. Profit is what attracts most beginners, but risk management is what keeps a trader in the game long enough to actually become profitable.

I think one of the biggest mistakes new traders make is focusing on “How much can I make?” before asking “How much am I willing to lose?”

8+ years of experience really puts that into perspective. Survival first, consistency second, scalability third.

That’s a solid approach. Slow growth can be frustrating, but protecting the account comes first.
