I focus on consistent growth rather than unrealistic returns. My target is typically around 5–15% per month, depending on market conditions and risk management. Performance can vary, and I always prioritize capital preservation. You can verify my trading history and results through Myfxbook.

As long as you dont lose money, I think is already a W, especially with such a volatile market right now.

Yes definitely (this a remark of an experienced algo-trader that has suffered loss right?)  but one can be realistically more ambitious

G'day.

These are important questions, because returns are often very overstated, with people providing small-timeframe DEMO accounts (a couple of months) of 30% months stating this can be consistently done, without showing how many accounts (demo or live) they've blown up in the process to produce this biased outlook.  Unfortunately, this is common to see on a results publishing platform.

Monthly returns and expected drawdown are to a degree, intrinsically linked. It's difficult to pin a number on one without discussing the other. And this is also effected by other factors including the target market and risk of ruin - i.e. are the returns for external funds or personal trading? What is the maximum that your trading can tolerate risk-wise before becoming unrecoverable?

To tackle the risk of ruin question - generally if an account is breaching 30% drawdowns, it has become essentially unrecoverable and unattractive. Institutions like to see 8-12% maximum drawdowns, in which case a good return would be 15-25% per year. If anyone can do this sustainably across multiple years then they are ready to scale up institutionally. I like to trade my own capital with a bit more risk, because I understand my product and its behavior, so it is tuned to hit roughly 35-40% returns per year for an expected 15% maximum drawdown.  Overall, a realistic monthly return of 2% is fantastic (24% annually), if maintaining drawdown under say 12%.

5-10% would be good 10-12% is a really great result but all depends of your bank size

I expect to take at least 3 swing positions with 4RR and about 10 intraday positions with 2 RR. Taking into account my winning rate of 45%, it will be roughly 9-10%, if I risk something like 1% of my account or 15%, if some of these trades are taken with %2 risk. I think this is the most realistic return per month. Over 20% is something that happens rarely and what it’s hard to sustain in the long run.

I would like at least half a percent net profit for each trading day, at least 11 percent per month.

45% monthly profit risking 10% per day seems fine for me. Had 2 consecutive losses hence 18% DD.

Still maintaining the 45% monthly after 7 months! 827% total and still flying!

aint no magic number for monthly roi, but the real test is how u handle the dd while chasin' those gains. aimin' for 15% isnt wrong, but the way u get there—how much margin risk ur actually takin'—thats what kills u. end of the day, staying in the game w/o blowing ur acct is what separates the real ones from the tourists. smoother equity curve starts w/ knowing ur dd limits cold, way before u stare at the percentage😊

The system is only as good as the discipline behind it.

Wishing you more success.I suggest that in such big successes you reduce your trading volume to a quarter of the normal volume. In terms of trading psychology, you are in a dangerous phase.

Thank you for the kind words and your suggestion!

I have actually removed the EA on M15 chart (previously running on M15 and H1), and running the EA only on H1 chart. Halving my risk to 10% per trade.

I am happy with anything above 5%, but my main goal is to keep the DD below 10% anyhow.
