Curious what people are using for onchain exposure to metals and forex... gold, silver, EUR/USD, oil etc.

Most of what I've seen seems to be either synthetic protocols that are illiquid or over-collateralized to the point of being unusable, or other onchain trading venues with different execution models. Genuinely wondering whether forex traders are even aware this world exists, or whether the "onchain = sketchy" perception is still too strong to overcome regardless of how the tech has evolved.

And for those who have explored it, what's the actual friction? Is it the wallet setup, the lack of regulation, the spreads, or something else entirely?

tried setting up some onchain asset stuff a while back and the liquidity fragmentation plus oracle lag were absolute killers. those synthetic protocols look great on paper, but once you try moving decent size, the slippage and insane over-collateralisation requirements just kill any real capital efficiency. tech's moving, sure, but bridging that execution friction and building real trust against volatility? still feels like a long shot for now.

The system is only as good as the discipline behind it.

oracle lag and liquidity fragmentation are absolute killer bottlenecks when ur trying to trade forex or gold onchain. those synthetic protocols are way too over-collateralised as well, so the moment u try pushing a decent size, slippage completely bricks ur capital efficiency. at the end of the day, no matter how much the underlying tech scales, shaving off that execution friction still feels light-years away.
