The first goal is not how much money you make, but not to lose your capital. Just like learning to swim, you have to practice holding your breath first so that you can splash around while you’re alive.

I completely agree. At the intermediate level, the priority must always be capital preservation. Consistently protecting your account balance allows you to stay in the market and capitalize on opportunities over time. Chasing profits without solid risk management often leads to unnecessary drawdowns. Just like learning to swim, mastering the fundamentals, such as controlling risk and maintaining discipline, is essential before attempting more aggressive moves. Only by safeguarding your capital can you build a sustainable trading career.

Capital preservation is the real game in trading — not chasing profits.Once I shifted my focus to protecting my balance first, everything changed. Now I risk small, trade less, and think long-term.Gerchik & Co really pushes that mindset — survive first, profit second.
