Trailing Stops on Profits: Yes or No?

I’m a firm believer in locking in profits once a trade moves in my favor.
After years of testing dozens of exit mechanisms, my preferred method is a ratcheting trailing stop of 25 pips. The logic is straightforward: once the position reaches +25 pips in profit, the stop activates and begins trailing — but it only moves in the direction of the trade. If price retraces, the stop stays where it is. This protects realized gains while still giving the winner room to breathe.
