Stick Sandwich Candlestick Definition

The Stick Sandwich is a three-candlestick pattern, which is characterized by the middle candlestick having an opposite color of the candlesticks on either side of it. Additionally, both outer candlesticks have a larger trading range than the middle candlestick, which creates the pattern's appearance of an upright sandwich. The middle candlestick is known as the "stick," and the two outer candlesticks are referred to as the "bread."

Is the Stick Sandwich Candlestick Bullish or Bearish?

The stick sandwich candlestick pattern can appear in both bearish and bullish indications.

 bearish Stick Sandwich
In the case of the bearish Stick Sandwich, the first candlestick is a long candlestick that closes near its high. The second candlestick opens below the prior day's opening and closes below the previous day's close. The third candlestick completely engulfs the second and has the same closing price as the first.

 bullish Stick Sandwich
On the other hand, the bullish Stick Sandwich begins with a long candlestick that closes near its low. The second candlestick opens above the previous day's opening price and closes above the previous day's closing price. The third candlestick thoroughly engulfs the second and has the same closing price as the first.

Stick Sandwich Candlestick in Up and Down Trends

In an uptrend, a bullish stick sandwich pattern may suggest that the trend is losing momentum and that buyers are becoming hesitant. A bearish stick sandwich pattern in an uptrend may signal a potential trend reversal.

In a downtrend, a bullish stick sandwich pattern can suggest that buyers are gaining momentum, and the trend could be reversing. A bearish stick sandwich pattern in a downtrend may indicate that the trend is losing momentum and that buyers could potentially enter the market.

Traders should always confirm the stick sandwich candlestick pattern with other indicators or patterns before making trading decisions. It's also important to note that this pattern is not a strong signal on its own, and traders should consider other technical indicators to confirm the trend's direction.
