FTSE 100 Up 0.73%; BoE Raises Interest Rate By 25 Bps

(RTTNews) - U.K. stocks were up in positive territory a little past noon on Thursday with investors reacting to a slew of earnings announcements and digesting the Bank of England's decision to raise interest rate by 25 basis points.

The Bank of England today raised its interest rate to 4%, as widely expected, after holding the rate at 3.75% since December 2025.

The Bank's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) voted to increase the Base Rate by 0.25%, up from 3.75%, in its first rise in three years. The base rate significantly affects the cost of mortgages and loans and the interest rates banks offer on savings accounts.
