Indian Shares Open Higher Led By IT Stocks

(RTTNews) - Indian shares were flat to slightly higher on Thursday ahead of the Reserve Bank of India's interest-rate decision and policy guidance due on Friday.

The benchmark BSE Sensex was up 139 points, or 0.2 percent, at 85,245 in early trade, while the broader NSE Nifty index rose by 38 points, or 0.2 percent, to 26,023. TMPV, Tech Mahindra, Asian Paints, HCL Technologies and TCS all were up around 1 percent.

RailTel Corporation of India rose over 1 percent on securing a contract valued at Rs. 48.78 crore from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

RVNL gained 1 percent after a Rs. 145-crore order win from Southern Railway.

Pace Digitek climbed 1.1 percent on securing an order worth Rs. 99.71 crore from Advait Greenergy Pvt Ltd.

Pine Labs advanced 1.4 percent on posting turnaround results for the second quarter. Indian Energy Exchange added 1 percent on reporting an 18 percent rise in monthly electricity trade volume for November.

Nector Lifesciences soared 14 percent on share buyback news.
