Indian Shares Surge As Fed Bets Ease
(RTTNews) - Indian shares were sharply higher in early trade on Monday as data showing much weaker-than-expected U.S. job growth in September reduced expectations for a potential Federal Reserve rate hike later this month.
The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 683 points, or 0.95 percent, to 72,593 while the NSE Nifty index was up 190 points, or 0.9 percent, at 22,612.
TCS rose 1.3 percent ahead of its quarterly earnings results due this week.
HDFC Bank gained 1 percent after appointing Anup Bagchi as its Managing Director & CEO.
Gland Pharma added 1.1 percent on news it will invest USD 21 million in Gland Pharma USA.
Coal India advanced 1.7 percent after announcing it has augmented supplies by 12.5 percent year-on-year in September.
DMart slumped 4.2 percent while Bajaj Finance rallied 3.8 percent and Nykaa surged nearly 5 percent after announcing their business updates for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026.
Redington soared 4.8 percent after signing a distribution partnership with OPSWAT.
