Sensex, Nifty End Choppy Session Marginally Higher

(RTTNews) - Indian shares ended little changed on Monday after a choppy session. Caution prevailed ahead of a big week for earnings, with around 200 prominent companies scheduled to report their quarterly earnings results.

The benchmark BSE Sensex swung between gains and losses before ending the session up 39.78 points, or 0.05 percent, at 83,978.49.

The broader NSE Nifty index edged up by 41.25 points, or 0.16 percent, to 25,763.35 after a strong rally in October.

The BSE mid-cap and small-cap indexes jumped 0.6 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively to outperform their larger peers.

The market breadth was strong on the BSE, with 2,230 shares rising while 2,004 shares declined and 227 shares closed unchanged.

Among the top gainers, Bharti Airtel, SBI, Eternal, TMPV and Mahindra & Mahindra rose 1-2 percent.

Dredging Corporation of India shares soared 20 percent after Prime Minister Modi unveiled a Rs. 4,000 crore modernization program for the company.

Vodafone Idea shares surged 9.3 percent after the Supreme court allowed government to consider all adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues for reconsideration.

Globally, Asian stocks ended higher in thin trade, with Japanese markets closed for a public holiday.

European markets were flat to slightly higher in early trade as the White House released details of a new trade and economic agreement reached between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea.

Oil prices were little changed, giving up early gains after OPEC+ decided to hold production steady in early 2026, easing fears of a growing supply surplus.

Gold edged higher as the dollar eased from a near three-month high ahead of key ADP employment data and ISM PMI figures due this week.
