South Korea Consumer Prices Rise 0.3% In September

(RTTNews) - Consumer prices in South Korea were up a seasonally adjusted 0.3 percent on month in September, Statistics Korea said on Friday.

That was shy of expectations for an increase of 0.4 percent and up from 0.2 percent in August.

On a yearly basis, inflation climbed 2.9 percent - in line with forecasts and easing from 3.1 percent in the previous month.

Petroleum products were a main driver of the increase, up 14.8 percent on year. Diesel fuel surged an annual 20 percent, while gasoline was up 11.8 percent.

Core CPI was up 2.8 percent on year, slowing from 3.4 percent in August.
