U.S. Durable Goods Orders Jump In February Amid Rebound In Aircraft Demand

Partly reflecting a rebound in orders for transportation equipment, the Commerce Department released a report on Tuesday showing a notable increase in new orders for U.S. manufactured durable goods in the month of February. The report said durable goods orders jumped by 1.4 percent in February after plummeting by a revised 6.9 percent in January.

A report released by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia on Tuesday showed a downturn in regional non-manufacturing activity in the month of March. The Philly Fed said its diffusion index for current general activity at the firm level fell to a negative 2.3 in March from a positive 0.8 in February. The index turned negative for the first time since last October.

German Consumer Confidence To Rise Slowly: GfK

The improvement in consumer sentiment in Germany is set to continue slowly as the economic recovery is expected only in the second half of the year, survey conducted by the market research group GfK and the Nuremberg Institute for Market Decisions (NIM) showed on Tuesday.
