Negative equity
My account just went negative. Does that mean that I've lost everything?
You didn't just lose everything, you managed to lose more than you actually had. Welcome to the world of leverage....Better check if your broker forgives negative balances, or you'll realize 'zero' was actually the optimistic scenario. 😄
How much leverage were you using, and why are you trading with a broker that doesn’t offer negative balance protection?
Actually, I think it was my fault because I took out almost all of my money (almost $300,000). except for a few thousand without stopping the algo. And it's only like $800 negative and I haven't heard from the broker yet. It's just that this year's been such a cluster that I move the money into another investment account that actually did pretty well. I guess I was just surprised because, I'm an AI programmer and it doesn't seem like this algo was very smart.
