Wow, Feb 5–6 was brutal for crypto traders. A colleague of mine lost about 50% of her portfolio in just a day. Over $2.6B got wiped out, and even 2–5× leverage positions were hit hard. It really shows how quickly things can go south.

What caught my attention was how different exchanges responded. Bitget launched a $5M support fund through their WeStay program, offering low-risk USDT staking as a way to help users who got liquidated. Meanwhile, big names like Binance, OKX, and Bybit didn’t announce anything, nothing at all.

Support like this feels really important in extreme market events. It’s not just about ROI it’s about giving users a soft landing when the market goes crazy. I wonder if other platforms will take note and roll out similar initiatives in the future.

Am I overthinking it, or do you guys think exchange-backed support programs could become a standard safety net for traders?

I’m not trading crypto at the moment, but structurally speaking, exchange backed support programs are more of a PR and retention tool than a true safety net. In highly leveraged environments, liquidation risk is built into the product design. A $5M support fund sounds significant, but relative to billions in liquidations, it’s symbolic.

Today, Dogecoin dropped in value. "Dogecoin and Zcash Leads Crypto Market Losses. Dogecoin declined more than 7% on Sunday,15 Feb and is now hovering above the crucial $0.1000 level. If selling pressure persists, DOGE could retest the October 10 low at $0.0950. A deeper correction may expose the February 6 low near $0.0800."I don't know if dogecoin will be good for investment or not. But recently crypto is not doing too good. Hard to predict the market.

Consistency is King
