Which countries are currently leading in gold tokenization adoption?
Countries like the United Arab Emirates (Dubai and Abu Dhabi), Switzerland, and Singapore are among the leaders globally in gold tokenization adoption. In the UAE, regulatory clarity from VARA and hubs like DMCC support compliant gold-backed token launches. Switzerland’s token-friendly legal system and SIX Digital Exchange make it a major hub for regulated gold tokenization. Singapore leads in Asia thanks to progressive regulation and strong digital-asset infrastructure. At Beleaf Technologies, we track these global hubs closely as we build our gold tokenization. We collect customer feedback, refine our systems, and also offer demo services across all blockchain-based solutions.

Yeah I get what you mean. A lot of tokenized gold is basically just a claim on gold, not gold in your hand. The real question is whether it’s actually backed 1:1, audited, and redeemable for physical. If it’s not, then it’s pretty much just another IOU with a new label.
Exactly.
Invesco Physical Gold ETF is a prime example of how this works in practice. It is marketed as “physical,” yet what investors actually hold is a claim on metal held by an issuer and a custodian. If either fails, you get nothing. Tokenized gold follows the same model in digital form. It is still an IOU with empty promise.
Quote from Key Investor Document:
"What happens if Invesco Physical Markets PLC is unable to pay out?You may face a financial loss should the Manufacturer or the custodian, JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., default on theirobligations. There is no compensation or guarantee scheme in place which may offset, all or any of, this loss."
Every other ETF follors the same principle. Magic tokenized gold bars are no different. 🤡
The UAE already holds a lot of physical gold and has strong vaulting infrastructure, so I do wonder what problem tokenization is really solving there. Is it mainly about accessibility and trading convenience rather than storage or trust itself?
It doesn't solve anything. "tokenized" assets are just paper versions of the proper product. For Gold, we already have paper ETFs, with heavy regulation preventing easy exit-scamming. With "tokenized" gold on blockchain, it will be much easier for the issuer to get "hacked" and loose all your gold.
Gold tokenization is thriving in jurisdictions that combine strong bullion markets with clear digital asset regulation. UAE especially Dubai leads due to its global gold hub status and regulator-backed pilots, followed by Switzerland’s strong legal clarity. Singapore is advancing through MAS-led initiatives, while the UK and Japan focus on broader RWA strategies. This trend is also driving demand for gold linked trading instruments, including funded trading accounts that offer exposure without requiring personal capital.
