How to Start CFD Trading? Any Tips for Beginners?

Quick question instead of starting a new thread, anyone got experience with IC Trading or Hola Prime Markets for scalping? They’ve got 0 min spread with a $3 commission.
What is your expectation about monthly return at forex trading?

That level of return is achievable during good cycles, especially with leverage, but maintaining it without large drawdowns is the challenge. If you are risking too much to hit 15 percent, I feel it becomes unstable. Long-term survival matters more than high targets.

Psychology is the foundation. Without emotional control, even a profitable system fails. I used to break my own rules after a losing streak. The real improvement came when I treated trading like a process, not a way to feel good.
Why Most New Traders Fail (It’s Not the Strategy)

One thing I think we forget is not having our own style. A lot of new traders copy setups that don’t match their personality or schedule. If your strategy doesn’t fit how you think and live, you’ll break the rules under pressure. Consistency gets easier once the approach actually feels like yours.
How do you manage risk during high-impact news events in forex trading?

I used to try trading NFP and rate decisions thinking volatility meant opportunity. Most of the time it just meant slippage and stress. Now I usually wait and watch the first reaction play out. Once spreads normalize and structure forms again, I’m more comfortable stepping in. Missing the first move has saved me more than catching it ever did.

All true but the real separator is risk. A decent strategy can work if you don’t overtrade and you keep losses small. I’d rather be boring and consistent than chase perfect entries.
What’s the toughest challenge you’ve overcome in trading?

I used to mistake excitement for opportunity. If price was moving fast, I felt like I needed to be part of it. That mindset cost me more than any bad strategy. The shift came when I accepted that my job isn’t to predict or be involved all the time. It’s to wait for conditions that fit my plan and ignore the rest.
What are your go-to indicators for swing trading in the current market?

I keep it pretty simple. For swing trades, I mainly use a moving average for structure and sometimes RSI just to see if we’re stretched. Nothing fancy. What I’ve learned is that indicators don’t create the edge, they just help frame context. Earlier on, I kept adding tools thinking more confirmation meant more safety. It just created noise. Now I’d rather focus on higher timeframe structure and let the setup come to me instead of chasing every signal.
Consistency beats excitement

I used to confuse excitement with opportunity. If the chart looked “busy” I felt like I should be in it, and that’s when I’d make the dumbest entries. Once I accepted that my job is to wait, not to predict, things improved fast.

Yeah, UAE, Switzerland, and Singapore make sense to me as the usual front runners. They’ve been early on licensing, custody rules, and building the infrastructure that serious issuers need.
where did you learn about the forex basics ?

What I’ve seen is that demos and courses give confidence early, sometimes too much. The real gaps show up once emotions hit and trades stop behaving like textbook examples.
