Headway Daily Analysis | Close & Pre-Asia

DAY SUMMARY: Markets edge higher, gold prints fresh records above $5K, and investors switch to “Fed & Trump mode.”
Headway | 225 days ago

Wall Street closed moderately higher, with the Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq advancing ahead of the Fed decision and a heavy slate of Big Tech earnings. Europe also finished in positive territory, supported by the EU–India trade agreement and improving sentiment after recent turbulence related to tariffs and Greenland.

FX: The dollar remains under pressure, with the DXY at year-to-date lows. EUR/USD is trading near the 1.18 area, while the AUD stays strong, supported by a more hawkish rates outlook in Oceania and upcoming inflation data. The yen gave back part of its recent strength after a sharp appreciation, but remains on watch amid the possibility of new FX-related statements and potential signs of coordinated intervention.

Commodities:

🥇 Gold surged again and remains at all-time highs, trading well above $5,100 per ounce, driven by a weak dollar, fiscal and geopolitical noise, and strong demand for safe havens. Silver is following the move, showing high volatility but maintaining a bullish bias.

🛢️ Oil: Brent trades slightly higher, as traders balance geopolitical risk and weather-related supply concerns against worries about global growth and demand throughout 2026.

💰 Bitcoin: BTC remains in consolidation mode, fluctuating between $86–89k after testing lower levels earlier this week. The move looks more like base building than a clear trend. The prevailing view is that crypto is reacting to global risk sentiment and the rally in gold and silver, with investors staying cautious until price can firmly reclaim key resistance in the $90–95k zone.

🌏 WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ASIA

Bias: Neutral to slightly positive, with room for continued recovery in Asian equities. However, sensitivity remains high to any comments from Trump on tariffs (Canada, Europe, Greenland), the pre-Fed environment, and selective data from China and Australia, which could impact currencies and commodities.

Have a great session everyone! Stay disciplined 🎯
