I’ve found the trade immediately after a loss can tell you more about your discipline than the losing trade itself.Do you:Wait for your next planned setup?Reduce your position size?Stop trading for the session?Review what went wrong first?Curious what you guys do. Do you have a specific rule for your next trade after a loss?

For me, the first thing after a losing trade is to check whether the loss was part of the plan or the result of a mistake.

If the setup was valid and the risk was respected, I don’t think there is a reason to change the strategy just because of one loss. I simply wait for the next qualified setup. But if I broke my own rules, I would rather stop and review than try to recover the money immediately.

I also work with automated trading systems, and one thing I’ve learned is that removing emotions from execution doesn’t remove the need for discipline. An EA can follow its rules consistently, but the trader still needs to understand the system’s drawdown and know when intervention is actually justified.

My personal rule is: never increase risk just to recover a loss. A losing trade is normal; losing control of the process is the real problem.

Curious to hear from others: do you have a fixed daily loss limit, or do you decide when to stop based on market conditions?

The next trade usually tells me more than the loss itself. I don’t change my size or try to make it back straight away. If my setup comes again, I take it. If not, I wait.

After a losing trade, I step away for a few minutes and review my entry, risk and execution. I avoid chasing the loss and only trade again when a valid setup appears.
