Daily Fundamental Analysis: Dow Jones surges 1,500 points following Democrats win in election

US equity futures edged higher this morning following a powerful rally in the previous session, supported by a sharp decline in oil prices and greater clarity following the US midterm elections.
Yesterday, Dow Jones surged more than 1,500 points adding 3%, and marking its strongest session since April 2025, while the S&P 500 gained 1.6%. The rally was supported by a drop in oil prices, easing concerns about energy driven inflation.
Crude oil prices tumbled sharply on Wednesday, as the outcome of the U.S. midterm elections raised expectations that the Trump administration could move toward de-escalating the conflict with Iran. WTI fell 8% to $88.20 a barrel, while Brent dropped 8.6% to $94.57.
Trump also said he had no immediate plans to strike Iran, reinforcing hopes for a diplomatic solution.
In Asia, the Hang Seng Tech Index jumped more than 5%. Major Chinese technology companies led the gains, with Alibaba and Tencent rising more than 6%.
Gold extended Wednesday’s strong 3% rally as the U.S. Dollar fell to its lowest level since late September following the U.S. midterm election results.
The decisive Democratic victory in both the House and Senate reduced expectations of further U.S. military escalation against Iran. The resulting decline in crude oil prices is also easing concerns about energy-driven inflation.
